Teacher Receives Grant
"Meet the Masters" program
Elementary art teacher, Kim Armstrong received a grant to buy a set of Artists from the "Meet the Masters" program. The set contains lesson plans for seven artists to be taught throughout the school year. For each master artist presented, there is a very organized notebook with lesson plans designed on three levels, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Each artist is introduced using props, a copy of his/her artwork, and a DVD slideshow with pictures and information about the master artist. Certain skills are taught for each particular artist and then each student is ready to create their very own masterpiece representing the Master Artist.
The "Meet the Masters" program has five sets of 7 artists. It is designed so that when the first graders leave the elementary to move onto Middle school, they will have learned and mastered 35 famous artists. With the graciousness from the Sequoyah School Foundation, the elementary now owns all five sets.
