Welcome back, and happy 2024! It's great to be back with the students, and I wanted to update you with some very important information happening at Sequoyah Upper Elementary.
Elementary Yearbooks are on sale from January 9th through January 25th. You will receive information and a form on the evening of the 9th. If you would like to purchase a yearbook for your child, please fill out the information and return it with payment to your child's teacher by the 25th. The yearbook cost is $25.00. We are unable to extend the deadline for ordering, and no extra copies will be available for purchase.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are on February 12th and 15th from 4:00–7:00 pm. We will begin taking appointments on January 29th. Please get in touch with Tiffany Goodwin, our receptionist, at 918-341-6111. Mark your calendar and get your appointment. Your child's teacher will give you updated testing and vital information regarding their progress.
Muffins With Mom is set for February 23rd at 7:00 am. Our Scholastic Book Fair will officially begin on February 26th but will open early on the morning of Muffins With Mom if you would like to take them to this event at 7:15 am.
As we start back, we will have several safety drills over the next few weeks, including fire, lockdown, and bus evacuation. Per state law, we will review our tornado drill and practice again in March.
Sequoyah's 5th Grade has completed the program at STARBASE in Tulsa. STARBASE'S unique hands-on approach provided students with an engaging atmosphere focused on teamwork and enriching their STEM skills. This 6-day program covered many topics related to our Oklahoma standards in science and mathematics.
"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader." -- John Quincy Adams
As we transition between fall and winter, the Oklahoma weather seems to change daily. With the unpredictable weather and playground conditions, please make sure that your child(ren) is dressed for outside play. Thank you to all parents in advance for helping to ensure that your child(ren) has appropriate clothing, as we do go outside during specials, recess, and lunch.
All transportation changes must be done by calling our receptionist, and she will notify the teacher. Please understand we cannot make changes any other way. Students are not allowed to inform their teacher of changes verbally. If you are calling to make a change, you must notify the front office by 1:50 pm.
