My name is Jon Hall, and I am excited to begin my tenth year in education and my fifth year at Sequoyah. Education has become much more than a career for me; it is a profession that I am passionate about and one that has given me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.
I graduated from Reynolds High School, located just outside of Portland, Oregon, in 2005. After high school, I spent several years working in the Mid-America Industrial Park in Pryor, Oklahoma. While I valued the experience I gained during that time, the economic recession of 2008 left me unemployed and searching for a new direction.
That opportunity came when I was asked to work with students at Chouteau Public Schools as a paraprofessional. Within a few months, I realized that education was where I belonged. Working directly with students allowed me to see firsthand the tremendous impact that teachers and coaches can have on young people. That experience inspired me to return to college and pursue a degree in education.
I began my college education at Northeastern State University and later completed my degree at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. I began my teaching career at Foyil High School, where I taught History and coached football, basketball, and baseball. It was also at Foyil where I met my wonderful wife, Ashlee.
Since then, Ashlee and I have built our family and welcomed our two children, Paislee and Colton. Both of our children now attend Sequoyah, and they absolutely love being part of this school community. Having my own children attend Sequoyah has given me an even greater appreciation for the students, families, teachers, and community that make this school special.
I have always had a passion for learning and professional growth. During my time at Sequoyah, I continued my education and graduated with a 4.0 GPA while earning my Master of Science in Educational Leadership. I believe that effective educators should never stop learning, growing, and looking for ways to better serve their students.
Throughout my career, I have always tried to be a teacher first and a coach second. Coaching has taught me many valuable lessons about leadership, teamwork, accountability, perseverance, and building relationships, but I believe the foundation of everything we do begins in the classroom and with our responsibility to our students.
Looking toward the future, I hope to continue growing as an educator and eventually pursue a career in school administration. My ultimate goal is to serve students, teachers, families, and the community in a leadership role while continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
I am grateful for the opportunities that have brought me to Sequoyah, and I look forward to continuing to learn, lead, and serve this community for many years to come.
