Top 10 Elementary Artists

The Sequoyah Elementary art classes have been studying about one of the first American born artists, Winslow Homer.  Born in 1836, he was an illustrator during the Civil War for the Harper's Weekly Newspaper.  In his earlier works, he utilized the Block Print method and later on mastered the use of watercolors painting realistic landscapes and seascapes. The element of art the students masterpieces depicted was working with value.  The 5th grade Eagle Artists completed a pencil drawing using pressure to create light and dark pencil lines and shading to create their masterpiece.
