What's Happening in the Lower...

Here come the holidays!

What a great start to fall and what a busy time we have had over the last few weeks. We had a wonderful turnout for our Carnival, Cinnamon Rolls with Grandparents and to our Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you so much to all of you that attended and helped support our students. The love of this community is so deep and outreaching!

On that note…we hope to have a successful Canned Food Drive soon…so be looking for those notes. Our 5th grade leaders head up a food drive to assist Good Samaritan’s food pantry. I am very pleased to say that in the past the lower/upper elementary easily surpassed our 1500 goal and brought in 2,900 canned/boxed items. This will definitely ease the burden of feeding many struggling families.

Our semester will end on December 20th, which is our last day before Christmas Break. We want to wish you safe and meaningful holiday wishes for Thanksgiving and Christmas! This time of year is dedicated to time for caring, thankfulness, and giving.

Important Dates to Note:

November 27-29 – NO SCHOOL for Thanksgiving Break

 December 20th - End of 2nd Qtr. / 1st Semester

Christmas Break – December 21st through January 3rd

Teacher Professional Development – January 6th

Classes Resume – Tuesday, January 7th

Yearbook order forms go home – January 14th

January 16th – Report cards sent home (district wide)

January 20th – NO SCHOOL

Once we return from Christmas Break, we will have several safety drills to practice our procedures for emergencies like fire, tornado or bus evacuation.

As we move through chilly fall & winter days, please be aware of our ever-changing Oklahoma weather and send your child in weather appropriate clothing. All of the students do make brief outside trips to ‘Specials’ and the cafeteria every day.

The LOST & FOUND gets pretty full this time of year with the changing weather. Please put your child’s name or initials in the jacket or coat to help us identify it. If you are missing a jacket or hoodie, please send a note to your child’s teacher with the description of the missing item and we can check for you.

Please continue to check the calendar on our website for upcoming events at Sequoyah Elementary or download our Sequoyah School app.  On our website, you can also sign up for email updates. Also, join the Sequoyah Lower Elementary Facebook page.

Keep those Box Tops, Best Choice upc’s and Tyson labels rolling in!  These programs have been very successful thanks to the support of our parents.  It is amazing how much money accumulates with even those little 10 cent Box Tops. Get your family members and friends to help make this coming year the biggest collection ever. You can send them with your child(ren) or drop them at the front office.

If you every have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us, 918-341-6111.
