Continuous Learning Plan Information

Sequoyah families and community,

Sequoyah Public School’s Continuous Learning Plan, which is focused on keeping our students moving toward a life-long love of learning, has been approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

Our goal is to provide a positive academic experience for students and guardians without being overwhelming. This plan will begin April 6, 2020, and continue through May 8, 2020. It will not replicate the face-to-face instruction teachers deliver when your student is present in our classrooms nor will we introduce any new learning concepts; however, the plan will keep them engaged and on track to successfully finish this very unusual school year.

Our Sequoyah Eagle team of teachers and principals has come together to create a great Continuous Learning Plan, which is listed below:

For all grade level information, go to www.sequoyaheagles.net , select the “Continuous Learning Plan” tab, select your student’s grade level building and finally select your student’s teacher’s name. There you will be able to navigate learning opportunities for your student.

  • Elementary (Prek-5) will contain an “educational resource” link with recommended online resources for guardians to use. *This plan also includes television opportunities via RSU TV, with Sequoyah Public School teachers providing lessons. RSU TV is a FREE public broadcast station and requires no internet.  Please commit to 30 minutes of learning a day using one of these options and when in doubt, READ. Reading is the academic game changer for all of our elementary students.
  • Middle School, Mid-High and High School will be using our Google Classroom/Student Google (Gmail) accounts for learning opportunity delivery.  *This plan also includes television opportunities via RSU TV, with Sequoyah Public School teachers providing lessons.  RSU TV is a FREE public broadcast station and requires no internet. Please commit to using both methods of learning opportunities for the next few weeks.

*Tune in to RSU TV (Channel 35.1) every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to view learning opportunities taught by our Sequoyah teachers. The RSU TV program guide will be posted to the Sequoyah Public School District Facebook page with viewing to begin on April 9 and finish on May 7, 2020.

We understand access to technology and in-home bandwidth is a concern for some families. Sequoyah Public School is working with Claremore Industrial and Economic Development Authority to increase access points to FREE Wi-Fi on our campus and around the Claremore area. Sequoyah Public School has set up a Guest Wi-Fi which can be reached in our Elementary parking lot and Sequoyah Baptist Church parking lot. If you choose to access these locations for FREE Wi-Fi, please STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE AND FOLLOW CDC GUIDELINES. Sequoyah Public School will announce as more locations of FREE access becomes available in the area.

If you have questions or need guidance on your student’s learning opportunities, please direct those to their teacher or principal via email. This will be our primary means of communication for learning opportunities.

A Frequently Asked Questions document is being developed which will provide answers to the most common asked questions about school and will be posted after April 6, 2020, on the Sequoyah Public School District Facebook page.

Sequoyah Public School is grateful for your continued support and patience during this unusual ending of school. We want you to know we all love serving this community and are striving to make this a positive experience.

Dr. Terry M. Saul

Superintendent
