Sequoyah Public School 2023 Bond Election
Sequoyah Public School has a strong, rich legacy of providing excellent educational opportunities for students, not only in Rogers County, but across northeastern Oklahoma. From a one-room schoolhouse in 1908, to first class educational facilities today, Sequoyah Public School continues to be committed to providing quality education and resources as priority number one. Sequoyah’s vision for the future began in 2008 with a 3-phase plan to provide the best learning opportunities for our students, staff, and community.
Phase I - Vocational Agriculture Building; Practice Gymnasium - COMPLETED and funded without a bond election. Phase II - 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Building; Band and Choir addition; renovation of Pope Athletic Complex; additions to bus fleet - COMPLETED and funded through the 2008 bond election. We are excited for the opportunity to begin the final phase of the 15-year plan.
This final phase, Phase III, will focus on the largest site on campus, the Elementary (PreK-5). The current elementary buildings have served Sequoyah well, but with the buildings’ integrity, outdated instructional space, inadequate technology, and outdated infrastructure (heating, HVAC, plumbing), they lack the resources for the future of Sequoyah. Phase III also includes other projects that will enable Sequoyah to provide amazing facilities and continue to build for our future. The bond election on February 14, 2023 is for a total package of $18,785,000 with NO TAX INCREASE to our community.
