The 2025 class of the Sequoyah Athletic Hall of Fame was inducted at the Olan Graham Field House.

Burl Moore Induction: 2025

Cross-Country / Track and Field  Coach

Burl Moore served as the elementary principal and track and field coach at Sequoyah from 1977 to 1994. In addition to his coaching duties, he founded the school's cross-country program in 1984. Under his leadership, the Sequoyah track and field teams achieved remarkable success, with the 1981 and 1986 teams finishing as State Runner-up and the 1988 team securing third place at the State meet. Moore also coached three individuals who won State Championships in 1986. His coaching excellence was recognized multiple times, as he was named Will Rogers Coach of the Year four times between 1986 and 1989. Additionally, from 1985 to 1990, he coached 14 athletes who earned All-State honors. Moore was also honored as the Oklahoma High School Girls Track Coaches Association Coach of the Year in both 1986 and 1988.

Don Raleigh

Football / Basketball / Track and Field

Don was a multi-sport athlete earning first team All-Will Rogers Conference honors in basketball. As a multiyear conference and regional champion in track and field, he excelled in events such as the high jump, long jump, 110 hurdles, and 300 hurdles. He set a school record of 6'8" in the high jump, qualified for state in the event four times, was the state runner-up in 1982, and became the state champion in 1983.

After graduation, Don attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWOSU) on a track scholarship. He became a three-time NAIA All-American in the high jump and a two-time NAIA Indoor National Runner-Up. He held NWOSU’s high jump record at 7’0" for multiple years, won four conference championships, and qualified for the NAIA National Championships seven times—four in outdoor and three in indoor events. His exceptional achievements led to his induction into the NWOSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.

Don later coached basketball, football, and track at Sequoyah High School from 1988 to 1993, further contributing to the athletic community.

Tina Sorensen Taylor

Softball / Basketball / Track and Field

Tina was a remarkable athlete, earning three letters in softball, where she played as a shortstop and pitcher. Her defensive skills earned her the title of Best Defensive Player during her senior year. In basketball, she was a four-year starter and made history as the first freshman to earn All Rogers County honors. As team captain in her sophomore year, she averaged an impressive 23.4 points per game, leading to her selection as All Conference and Rogers County Sophomore of the Year. In her junior year, she excelled further, averaging 28.7 points per game, the highest in Rogers County, with nine games where she scored over 30 points. Tina continued her success in her senior year, being named All Rogers County for the third time and making history again as the first female basketball player at Sequoyah to be named an All Stater.

In addition to her basketball achievements, Tina was a four-year letter winner in track and field, competing in multiple events such as high jump, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, long jump, 100 meters, and the mile relay. Throughout her career, she won over 100 medals, with twelve of those coming from State Track Meets. She was State Runner-up in the high jump during her sophomore, junior, and senior years, and achieved the same placement in the 400 and 800 meter relays in her junior and senior years. Notably, she also set a school record in the 200 meter race. Tina's outstanding performance earned her the title of Best Girls All Around Athlete from her peers at Sequoyah during her junior and senior years. She received a full basketball scholarship to play at Crowder Junior College in Neosho, Missouri, where she also walked on to the softball team for two years.
