Hello Sequoyah Parents, 

Welcome back, Eagles! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer!

We will start the year off with a grammar review. This will span a few weeks before we move into our fiction section, along with reviewing familiar and introducing new literary genres and elements. We will read the short story “Lob’s Girl” before moving into our first novel of the semester, Louis Sachar’s Holes.

In the second half of first semester, we will work through a scary short story unit of “The Elevator,” “Click Clack the Rattlebag,” “The Monkey’s Paw,” and time permitting, the script of “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street,” which is an episode from The Twilight Zone series. We will conclude our semester with Esperanza Rising before going into review mode to prepare for the semester final in December.
